St. Michael`s Church Tower

If you are visiting Cluj-Napoca, St. Michael`s Church must be on your list of places to visit. This Gothic-style Roman Catholic Church is the second largest church in the region of Transylvania. The 76 meter high tower is the highest one in Transylvania. Although the church is beautiful on the inside as well, you may want to climb into the tower, from which you can get a full view of the centre of Cluj.
In order to get into the tower you will have to buy a ticket from the porter at the main entrance of the church. Then you will go to the back of the church and from there be prepared to climb up many stairs.

Due to the wooden stairs and the dark, the atmosphere might get a little creepy and you might have the feeling that the stairs are never-ending, that you will never get to the top, but as soon as you see a beam of light it means that you have reached the top. From there you can see not only the centre, but the whole town as well, although from the Citadel you can get a broader view of the town. However, it is an extraordinary feeling, worth all those stairs you've climbed up to get there.

If you still have the strength, you can climb up to the clock as well. Up there it is even darker, and at each of the four clocks there is a little window, where you can look out and see the town even from higher than before.
