If you visit Mexico City don't forget to take a walk through the "Alameda Central", a public municipal park in Mexico City downtown.

From an Aztec marketplace, in the year 1592, Viceroy Luis de Velasco decided to create a green space here, as a public park. Alameda Central is a big green garden with paved paths and decorative fountains and statues. After the Mexican independence in 1821, the Alameda Central was city's most popular park.

Government authorities have remodeled and improved its sidewalks, sculptures, fountains and monuments throughout the years. There you can admire six beautiful and classical fountains, French design and inspired by greco-roman mythology: Las Américas, Las Danaides, Neptuno, Venus, Mercurio, La Bacante.

Alameda Central is a park where mythology blends very well with modernity. Besides mythological fountains, you will discover four modern fountains, all renovated and decorated with different light systems.

On the south side of the park, you will see the Hemiciclo a Juárez, which is a large white semi-circular monument to Benito Juárez, one of Mexico's most beloved presidents.

Near this park you will discover the beautiful Palacio de Bellas Artes, who was the first opera building of Mexico City. The Palacio de Bellas Artes was finished by Marshal on 10 March 1934. The Main Hall receives any possible artistic expressions of Mexico and from all the world through concerts, recitals, theater and dance galas.

For me it was a wonderful experience, people are eager to help, they help you find places you want to visit. I think it is the most relaxing place I have ever been, you can stay there and read a book, and you will find beautiful people ready to tell you everything you dream to know about the Mexican history.

Alameda Central is a landmark of Mexico City. It is a starting point for all landmarks in Mexico.

My last advice is: do not forget your camera! You will need it!
