Cetatuie park in Cluj-Napoca

After the death of Elisabeth - the wife of emperor Franz Josef, a statue of here ( now located in the Botanical Garden) was placed on this hill, thus emphasizing on it's importance . The citadel park has faced sinister events related to the vanish of stone crosses that were placed here first in in the 1700s and and after the First World War, one was even destroyed by the communists in 1948.

The Citadel received a flair of modern by the building of Belvedere Hotel, name changed after 1989 in Hotel Transylvania.

The Citadel is now the most romantic park in Cluj-Napoca. Many couples walk the stairs up to the citadel to enjoy a nice romantic view over the city. That park now has lovely restaurants and terraces where one can enjoy a lovely meal or the morning coffee. Less
