De Brug

In Belgium and especially in Ghent you have many restaurants so you have where to choose from. However, when it comes to food you have to make the right choice. Perhaps, you are on a tight budget, and you may want to eat a good and tasty meal at a reasonable price.

De Brug is more of a restaurant for students, so don't be surprised if you will see the place full of students. During lunchtime ( between 13 and 15 a.m ) De Brug can get really crowded, you will probably have to wait in a long row before you get can actually make your way to one of the tables. This fact shows also that the food is really tasty. You can get either soup, warm meal, salad , dessert and drinks of course.

By each warm meal you will have meat and the side dishes usually are both vegetables and potatoes prepared in various ways. I would recommend the potato croquettes, as they are so crunchy and simply to die for, but you can have also mashed potatoes, French fries or simply boiled potatoes.

The service at De Brug is excellent, you are welcomed with a smile as they ask you what would you want to eat. Don't be scared if they will talk to you in Flemish, they all speak english and if not they understand body language pretty well and you can just show them what you want to eat. For about 10 € you can have a full meal and walk out with a more than full stomach. And since you are not hungry anymore, you can start to get rid of all those calories by taking a nice walk on the streets of Ghent!Less
