IaÅŸi

Iași is one of the oldest cities of Romania and the most important cultural center of the province of Moldavia. Its link with history can be also found in the fact that the first Romanian university was establishes here. If you go to Iaşi you won't have any time to be bored, because this town has definitely a lot to offer.

First of all, there are many museums and churches, which you could visit. The Mihai Eminescu Museum of Literature, for example, is one of these. Mihai Eminescu was one of the most important poets of the Romanian literature and in this museum you will be able to see his writings and find out more about his life and his work.

The Palace of Culture is another building you can't miss if you are in IaÅŸi. This grandiose palace is built in a Neo-Gothic style and when it is opened you can enjoy the four small museums that are inside.

Secondly, there are many monasteries you can visit in IaÅŸi. One of them is the Golia monastery, which is built in the Renaissance style, but you can also visit St. Sava`s Monastery.

If you are not interested in religious sites you could also visit IaÅŸi`s Botanical Gardens, which are the largest in Romania, encompassing a surface of 100 hectares. However, it is best to go to the botanical gardens starting from April until September-October, because in the winter there isn't much to see I'm afraid.

Did you know that in IaÅŸi there is a hotel which was built after the project of the French engineer Gustave Eiffel. Grand Hotel Traian is a large and luxurious hotel built in a traditional style, the staff is very welcoming so you will surely enjoy your time spent here.
