If you visit Australia, please don't miss visiting the Kakadu National Park .This park located in northern Australia, at 240 kilometres east of Darwin. It is famous for its untouched natural beauty breathtaking and the very diverse flora and fauna. The Kakadu National Park is Australia's largest terrestrial national park.

Kakadu National Park area is approximately 20,000 km² and it can be divided into three main regions: the stony area, the lowland forests and the coastal swamps.

The name of the park, Kakadu comes from gaagudju language that was spoken by indigenous people in the north of the park. The park presents a great biological and ecological diversity.

The park protects:
- 4 major river systems: the East Alligator Rover, the West Alligator River, the Wildman River and South Alligator River
- 6 main forms of relief: estuaries, flood plains, country rock, southern hills and basins
- a remarkable concentration of flora and fauna: more than 28 birds species, approximately 60 species of mammals, 50 species of freshwater, over 10,000 species of insects and over 1,600 species of plants

He joined the UNESCO Heritage in three stages: first in 1981, then in 1987 a third time in 1992.

Kakadu National Park is located in the tropics, between 12° and 14° south of the equator. The monsoon climate is characterized by two main seasons: the dry season and rainy season. During the dry season (from April / May to September), dry winds predominate in the south and the east. Humidity is relatively low and rain is uncommon. In Jabiru, the average maximum temperature for June-July is 32°C. The maximum temperature Jabiru average for October is 37,5°C.

The various areas of Kakadu National Park have a specific flora. This varies from one area to another because of the geological substratum. Here you will find:
- in the Stone Country - here are the so-called "herbs of resurrection" because they are able to survive in conditions of extreme heat and prolonged drought followed by torrential rains
- in the wet and the cold keys, you will find the humid tropical forests
- the southern hills and basins are home to several endemic species such as Eucalyptus koolpinensis
- Lowlands, which occupies a significant part of the park are dominated by eucalyptus and in the open area there is a wide range of herbs such as spear grass, sedges and wildflowers

- in the flooded plains, wich are covered with water a few months each year, you can see species of sedge, mangrove forests and paper trees

The diverse environments of Kakadu National Park support an amazing variety of animal species which have adapted to the different habitats. Some species are rare, endangered, vulnerable or endemic. Following the extreme weather conditions, some animals are active only at certain moments of the day or night or at certain times of the year.
