When you go the the Netherlands you expect to see all the things this country is famous about and those are windmills, cheese, wooden shoes and of course tulips. But as the Dutch don't walk around in wooden shoes, you will hardly find any tulips on the streets of the towns in the Netherlands. Some tourists even go home with the thought that the Netherlands isn't really the land of tulips and how could it be when they haven't seen any?

Firstly, you shouldn't expect to see many Dutch tulips on the streets of Amsterdam or any other town in the Netherlands. So, where do he Dutch hide all those tulips? The answer is Keukenhof.

At Keukenhof you will definitely see tulips and not only . Literally the name Keukenhof means "Kitchen Garden" (because years ago it served to provide herbs to the Castle situated in the park), but it is known as the Garden of Europe, being one of the largest flower gardens in Europe. Approximately seven million flower bulbs are being planted and the park is open annually from March to mid-May and the best time to see all those tulips is mid-April. In this period they are in all colors and shapes in Keukenhof. You can see a lot of garden types as well as the English landscape garden, the Historical Garden or the beautiful Japanese country garden.

Next year Keukenhof will be open to public from the 20th of March until the 18th of May. A ticket for adults cost 15 € and for children 7,5 € . Getting to Keukenhof is very easy you can take the train or the bus from Haarlem, Leiden or Schiphol, so next year begin your spring with Keukenhof!
