Labyrinth of Buda Castle

The Labyrinth underneath the Buda Castle is one of the few underground wonders that the world has, along with the Paris and Rome catacombs and the other underground attractions from Moscow or London.

Until 2011, the Labyrinth was opened for the public and had a wonderful visiting program including a wandering with lanterns option. But In 2007 although being a success the Labyrinth was permanently closed for the public and since then any attempt to reopen it was in wain.

Still, for the time it was opened it had a real success. Romantic or scary walks, team building activities, birthday parties, cultural events and fair, were all held here.

The caves of the hill were created and were used as shelter by the hunting men that first inhabited the surroundings, later they were used for defense, military and economic purposes. During the wars period the labyrinth created was able to shelter more than ten thousand people. In the recent yeas it was transformed in a cultural space of holding fairs and other events.

I hope that i will reopen in the near future because I really want to enjoy the experience.
