Las Lajas Sanctuary

On the canyon of the Guáitara River Colombians have build the most amazing Church building I have ever seen!

Although the church is really new, working on it ended in 1949, it follows the Gothic style in a way that gives you all the chills. It's construction was inspired by the appearance of the Virgin Mary, who is believed to have helped a mother and a deaf-mute child caught in a storm. They found refuge in the Lajas and here is where the child miraculously saw the Virgin Mary.

The 100m high basilica is connected to the other side of the canyon by a wonderful bridge, allowing hundred of pilgrims to visit the minor basilica every year.
