Leuven

Leuven brings three things into mind: beer, bars and students. Situated at only 25 km from Brussels Leuven is the hometown of the Stella beer, one of the biggest beer types in the world. The locals even say that the Stella beer tastes even better in Leuven!

Since you are in Leuven you won't have to worry that you won't find any bars. There are so many that you won't know in which one to enter. In fact the old market square of this historical city is called Europe's largest bar, as it has 35 bars.

Students is the last word which best characterizes Leuven and once you get there you will observe that students are literally everywhere. It even seems that this town has more students than locals.

Leuven is well-known for its summer rock festival, the Marktrock, which is held each year around the 15th of August. During this rock festival the town comes to live and the whole town, especially the town hall is really crowded and you won't get to visit all the monuments and historical buildings, you will more likely attend to many rock concerts. If you want more to visit the town I suggest you go in July or September, but not in mid August.

All in all, I recommend Leuven to all those who are eager to discover another wonder of the Flemish Region.Less
