Lugano

Lugano is really a magical destination to visit. If you don't have it on you bucket list make sure to put it down right now! You should know about Lugano that it is situated in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, in Ticino (don't worry if you don't know any Italian, everybody speaks English or German). Even though it is a relatively small town you will have plenty of things to keep you busy during your stay.

Riding a cable car up to Monte-Salvatore, exploring the churches and cathedrals or the Piazza della Riforma are only a few of the many possibilities. I liked the fact that there are so many picturesque sights in one single place (I took so many photos that I had to recharge the battery of my camera several times). The lake and the mountains are sights that will definitely make your trip worthwhile!

The best way to explore this place is on foot. You can take long promenades along the lake or on the little, sute streets of the city. There are many shops for those who have a higher budget to spend. Lugano can offer the very best, if you want to buy luxury products, so you're in the right place! If you're tired of all the shopping you can simply hang out in one of the sidewalk cafés or bars.
What cuisine is concerned, being close to Italy has surely left its mark on the dishes, you will taste here more Italian food than Swiss one.

We took also advantage of the fact that Lugano is surrounded by mountains and there is a cable car up to Monte San Salvatore. There is another cable car up to Monte Bré. whichever you choose, you will have an amazing experience along with a breathtaking view.

It's true that I have a weakness for Switzerland, the beauty of this country keeps amazing me and I have a great respect for the preciseness, punctuality and open-mindedness of the people who live in it.

One good advice if you want to spend your summer vacation here: make sure that you search for a hotel and make a reservation months ahead, it is very visited during summer... and considering its beauty one can understand why.Less
