Nos ancetres les Gaulois

I don't know how to really qualify this place; The name says it all: Our ancestors the Gauls. The decor is medieval, a big part of the restaurant being truly old since it is in some of the oldest buildings of the St Louis Island, going back to the 16th century.

They serve a unique formula for 40 EUR, including all you can eat buffet starters, all you can drink wine served from the barrel, a plate of vegetables, cheese and finally desert. The kids (below 10) have a 20 EUR formula.

The food is traditional french and simple dishes, and the meat is grilled in the traditional way. The quality is ok, nothing special. The real attraction of this restaurant is it's atmosphere with live singers playing old traditional french songs and some international ones when there are tourists around (almost always the case here).

The service is also "medieval", in the way that don't expect any refinement. It seems it's part of the restaurant's culture.
If you have kids, it's a good place where they will have fun with the decor and atmosphere;

In conclusion: it's a bit expensive, but a nice experience to live if you like sorts of old simple style places; Kids will enjoy it.
