Parque del Oeste

Retiro Park is the one park almost everyone knows and visits while in Madrid, but I recommend a visit to West Park (Parque del Oeste) instead. It has great views of the city, nice restaurants and bars in the area, lots of parking spaces and a cable car can get you right to Casa de Campo.

And part of the fun is to visit Debod Temple. Is an ancient Egyptian temple that was rebuilt in this park, after the Spanish government received it as a gift. It has become a tourist attraction in itself, even if you just take a look (and pictures) from the outside. I recommend waiting for sunset to take the best pictures of the place.
