You probably know that the Hague is the home of the Dutch government. All the meetings of the States General of the Netherlands take place in the Binnenhof, the most imposing Gothic style building.

Once you're in the Hague it is impossible to miss it! Situated right next to a huge lake, the architecture of the Binnenhof speaks for itself. It is good to see it from outside, but you might want to get inside as well. The best way to do this is through ProDemos, who organizes tours of the Binnenhof.

I was with a group so we started our tour early in the morning, because we had a lot to see and visit. We left all our belongings at ProDemos and headed towards the Binnenhof. At the entrance there is a security check (as the one at the airport) and if everything is all right you can go in and begin the tour. We visited the most important spots of the Binnenhof, where all the important decisions are made. Our guide was really charismatic and presented the information by telling funny stories.

For me the most impressive part of the tour was the so called Ridderzaal, a great hall, which is the place where the King holds his speech annually on the third tuesday of September.

I recommend ProDemos to all those who are curious to see more of the Binnenhof. If you don't want a guided tour, you can always arrange for a self-guided tour.
