Rome the 'Eternal City', is the capital and largest city of Italy. It is famous for so many reasons like THE city of the Roman Empire, the Seven Hills, La Dolce Vita (sweet life) and of course the Vatican City.
Rome, as a millenium-long centre of power, culture and religion, has been the center of one of the globe's greatest civilizations ever, which dominated Europe for more than seven Centuries. If you add to this the Religious influence of the Vatican, no wonder it is one of the richest cities you will ever visit.
The Historic Center of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With wonderful palaces, millenium-old churches and basilicas, grand romantic ruins, opulent monuments, ornate statues and graceful fountains, Rome has an immensely rich historical heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it one of Europe's and the world's most visited, famous, influential and beautiful capitals.
If you add to all this its beautiful mediteranean weather, and the Italian Gastronomy, you cannot avoid falling in love of this city. The nightlife is also very nice, and a good shopping experience.
With so many sights and things to do, Rome can truly be classified a "global city".
You should nevertheless be aware of pick pockets and thieves, as in many highly touristic places. Also be aware of taxi rules and other services, since you have a few crooks in the city.
