The Christmas market in Sibiu

Although it does not even equal the Christmas market held in Vienna, the Christmas market held in Sibiu has its own charm. It begins each year on the 22nd of November and lasts one month until the 22nd of December. The first Christmas market in Sibiu was held in 2007 in the Little Square. Nowadays it is held in the Large Square in the historical center of the city.

During this period there are various performances held in the weekend of each week. These performances include various choirs singing. The songs of the choirs together with the wonderful lights and all the Christmas decorations make for a perfect Christmas atmosphere. As you walk and look at all the little stands that are filled with gifts or authentic Romanian products you will feel that Christmas is just around the corner and if you are in the modd you can do a little Christmas shopping as well!

If you are searching for more fun, there is a skating rink near the Large Square recommended for those who know to skate. The skating rink is ideal to have fun with friends or family and to keep yourself warm, because in December in Sibiu it can get really cold outside. Don't worry if you don't have skates, you can always rent some. They are around 3€ a pair. Besides the iceskating another must are the roasted chestnuts, which are absolutely to die for!Less
