The Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya in Hungarian) is a must see place if you visit Budapest. From this bastion built in a neo-gothic and neo-romanesque style you can have a wonderful panoramic view of Budapest. From here you will see not only the Danube, but also the Margaret Island and the Gellért Hill, not to mention the Parliament.

The name of the bastion comes from the the fishermen who were responsible with defeating this tower. How can you get here? The place is just a short walk away from the Buda Castle. For the lower levels you don't have to pay. For the upper levels I thought that there was an admission fee, however when I visited the machine was disabled so we could go up without paying. I couldn't decide whether admission is free of charge or we were just lucky. If you don't want to pay for an admission fee, you can remain at the lower levels, even from there you have plenty to see!

All in all, the Fisherman's Bastion was a very nice experience, a place that should be on the list of everyone who visits Budapest!
