If you seek for adventure at the Hoge Veluwe National Park you will certainly find it! Don`t get deceived by the fact that it is called a park, trust me it doesn`t resemble a park where you go strolling on a Sunday afternoon.

For me the park seemed huge, although I`ve heard others saying that it`s a rather smal onel. Inside you will find three museums among which the Kröller-Müller Museum with paintings of Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian etc.You can`t leave the Netherlands without seeing at least one of Van Gogh`s work.

In fact, the Hoge Veluwe is situated in the largest moraine of the Netherlands with a landscape created during the last Ice Age. Sand dunes, heathlands and woodlands, here you will find them all. If you want to visit this park you will have to pay an entrance fee. Don`t expect to reach it by car, instead you can get a bicycle for free right at the entrance in the museum. There are over 1700 free bikes of all shapes as sizes, for children, adults as well as for people with disabilities.

I loved the outdoor sculpture gardens. Don`t expect to see typical Dutch landscape here (that is to say windmills and tulips), because you will have the feeling that you are in Africa. At least that`s how I`ve felt, but I was really open to this new type of adventure. At the entrance you can buy a map if you want, but in my opinion you won`t be needing one, signs are everywhere, so I wouldn`t worry about getting lost.

Several guided tours are available and if you choose one you`ll be able to see amazing wildlife, especially if you go in autumn when it`s the mating season of deers. Besides deers, there are also wildboars, which you can see from far, just follow the guide.
For the program, you might want to check the official website, as far as I remember the park is open all year round, but the Kröller-Müller museum, for exemple is closed on Mondays.

All in all, I am convinced that once you visit the Hoge Veluwe you will fully enjoy it.
