The Scarisoara Cave

Last Summer I have seen the most beautiful wonder of nature! The Scarisoara cave is a wonderful place to visit. Our trip began with a 4 hour hiking through the Apuseni National Park from the village of Garda de Sus.

The long walk was worth it as is was relaxing and fun with a lot of beautiful natural sights. As for the cave I did not knew what to expect, the pictures that I saw on the internet were nothing compared to seeing the cave and the surrounding for real.

The descent into the cave begins with a huge complex of iron steps on the walls surrounding the cave. The feeling that I had while descending was overwhelming, as it was getting colder and colder but every step more beautiful!

The temperature in the cave is around 0°C. The large chamber, (108 m long, 78 m wide) is the first part of the cave that you will see and from here there are other openings in the cave that lead to some beautiful structures of stalagmites.

If you want to visit the cave you have to know that there are periods of time when the cave is closed to help preserve the low temperature and the ice in the cave.Less
