The characteristic feature of this village are the specific white houses. This village led once by an abbess has turned into a very popular tourist attraction. It is situated in the province of Limburg, close to Maastricht. It was for a long time on my list of places to visit in the Netherlands so I've decided to take a visit with some friends when I was in Maastricht.

I've made a little research on order to find out more about the history of the white Thors. I've found out that this village was an authonomous village, had even its own currency, but with the arrival of the French things have changed. They charged taxes for the size of the windows. That's why the relatively big houses in Thorn have small windowsl.

Among sites are the cobblestoned streets and the Abbey church. Although the village is so little, there is so much to explore! If you want something typical to eat in this village you can try the wonderful Dutch pancakes. In front of the church there is a sunny terrace where you can order a pancake. I had one with pineapple and cheese. Very tasty and different from any pancake I have ever eaten!
