Here's a nice tour to do the most out of Milan monuments and places of Touristic interest:

A- Start at Castello Sforzesco and visit the Castle. It's an important and well preserved medieval castle which was transformed several times, while keeping intact the mediaval part.

B- Go towards Parco Sempione and if you have time, walk towards Porta Sempione and look at the Triumph Arch.

C- Go back towards the front of the Castello and cross Largo Cairolli towards Via Dante. Via Dante was created in the 19th century to create a direct link between The Castello and the Duomo. You can enjoy the beautiful buildings of this commercial street.

D- Walk through Via Dante towards Piazza Cordusio which is one of the main Piazzas of Milan.

E- Take Via Mercanti until the old Market place at the Palazzo della Ragione.

F- Walk around the old Market and head towards the Piazza del Duomo and admire one of the most beautiful Cathedrals in the world.

G- Go through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II, and turn around the Bulls Balls in the Middle of the Galleria. It's a tradition! Besides this joke, the Galleria is absolutly beautiful.

H- Get out from the Galleria to Piazza della Scala and enjoy from one side the famous Scala Opera house and the Plazzo Marino.

I- You can turn around to the right of Banco Commerciale building and turn aound the block and see Casa degli Omenoni and Casa Manzoni.

J- Just to the right of the Scala Theatre, take Via Giuseppe Verdi towards via Brera until you arrive to the Brera Museum

K- Visit the Brera Museum, one of the most important in Italy.
